Guest Post: Who do you wear your underwear for?
First there was a woman, then
came the hot, lacy, seductive underwear. Well, it wasn’t really in that order
that things happened, but you get the gist.
Undies, knickers, banana
hammocks, panties, grannies - whatever you call your underwear, they make for
an integral part of everyone’s wardrobe and judging by the money we spend on
them, we take underwear very seriously. On top of that, there is a particular fascination with women’s lingerie in the male world
which we will probably never understand. Oh well, as long as they are getting
hot ‘cos of it, right?
This whole underwear thing is
silly, really; some of us don’t pay attention to what style or color they are;
others have a lucky pair; then, there are those who refuse wearing anything but lace… and those who are full on cotton and with no care in this
world. Ah… who knew underwear would ever be so diverse and important!
With all the styles, shapes,
sizes, fabrics and colors the question that immediately springs to mind is –
why do we care so much about little squares of fabric nobody but us (and our
significant others) sees? Is it for them? Is it the confidence? The What-if-I-fall-in-the-street-and-they-catch-me-with-sewn-in-panties
fear? Who knows! But, the care is there and it most definitely should be
properly honored.
The fashion industry has long
time ago realized the importance of undies, so runways are overflown with
various models and cuts made for virtually anyone’s tastes. The cool thing is
that we’re always surprised and excited by a new design or a new way to make
underwear work – whether it be through material mixing, color blocking,
different style combinations, accessories or any other trick designers have up
their sleeve. And – we love it! We do
pay a lot for it, but it somehow feels like every penny counts. They’ve got us
captured in their little trap, haven’t they?
The latest trend, and probably
one of the favorite ones of all the celebrities out there as well as us common
people are undergarments that became a huge hit with curvatious women taking
the beauty pedestal. When Twiggy and Kate Moss fashion dominated the scenes,
nobody was even paying attention to spanx or any other sort of fitting
shapewear as, well, there was nothing to tighten up – the love for skinny
beauty was simple to maintain – just don’t eat and nothing on you will need
support (as there’ll be no curves to support, obviously).
However, with the gorgeous
Marilyn Monroe and her curvatious body, and now Kim Kardashian who brought back the “MM look”, women everywhere
started embracing their curves and begun thinking about ways to turn their
bodies into little and delicious, desirable well packed packages that will keep
them feeling comfortable yet looking absolutely amazing. Oh and, let’s not
forget the amazing Ashley Graham who’s put full-figured women on the radar with
her plus size swimwear
photo shoot! Somebody scream body
revolution, please?
Making a full figured body look
flawless, with no cellulite bumps (yes, we all have them!) or some extra fat on
the hips, isn’t easy but owing to magnificently crafted undergarments –
everyone can look absolutely fantastic.
Relying on the magic that are
spanx, achieving the hourglass shape and eliminating the “extra” is more than
plausible. Some celebrities admittedly wear two pairs to make their bodies look even
fitter which is, at least by what the experts say, really unnecessary as the
right size will “pack you up” better than two would! If anything, doubling the
spanx may make them roll down and create weird curves.
Since undergarments classify as
underwear, we can spend as much as we want on them under the excuse that they
are…well, necessary! And in all truth – they are! There is nothing like high
quality shapewear to give you the right support, tighten you up in all the
right places and help you show off your figure just where they are supposed to.
What’s amazing is that they come in sexy ensembles, too – so even when you are
in for some stripping for your hubby… you’ll look perfect!
